Registering as Self-Employed Person / When does my obligation to pay contributions arise (SEPs - SZČO)

Table of contents

Do you have income from a business or other self-employment? Do you know when you are required to register with the Social Insurance Agency?

Do I need to register with the Social Insurance Agency as a SEP/SZČO?

Text

If you are self-employed without a specific permit (e.g., as an author or artist), you must notify the Social Insurance Agency of the start of your gainful activity within 8 days. If you are self-employed based on a permit or a procedure pursuant to special regulations, you are not required to notify the Agency. The relevant issuing authorities will automatically notify the Social Insurance Agency of the issuance of your permit.

The Social Insurance Agency will notify you within 20 days (in July or October) of:

  • the start (or end) of compulsory insurance;
  • your assessment basis or its change;
  • the amount of the contribution;
  • the time limits for payment of contributions;
  • details for the payment of contributions (specific symbol, variable symbol).

Start paying your insurance contributions, you have no other obligations.
